About This Grade
Fellowship isn’t applied for in the ordinary sense, it’s conferred on Full Members who have shown sustained leadership and made a distinguished contribution to the EHS profession over the course of their career. It represents the highest standard of professional recognition IIOEHS offers.
Eligibility
- Must hold a Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; OR must demonstrate at least twenty (20) years of distinguished senior leadership in occupational and environmental health and safety in lieu of a doctoral qualification.
- Must possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years of cumulative professional experience, with at least five (5) years in a senior executive, regulatory, academic, or leadership role.
- Must have made significant and demonstrable contributions to the profession, such as:
- Academic publications, research, or industry innovation.
- Leadership of large-scale safety, health, or environmental transformation initiatives.
- Development of frameworks, standards, or methodologies that advance OEHS practice.
- Recognized service to IIOEHS or the global occupational and environmental health and safety community.
- Must be nominated or endorsed by at least three (3) existing Fellows or Chartered Members of the Institute.
Application Process
- Submit a formal Fellowship Application Portfolio, including certified academic credentials, a detailed professional and academic CV, and a statement of professional contribution and impact.
- Provide letters of recommendation from at least three recognized peers or Fellows.
- Application is reviewed by the Fellowship and Honors Committee, evaluating leadership, scholarship, and service to the profession.
- Successful applicants are approved by the Governing Council and conferred Fellowship status at a formal induction or investiture ceremony.
